I have been working in the counseling field for over 10 years and am very passionate about encouraging and walking alongside individuals through their own specific journey of healing. Life is full of ups and downs and all of us experience pain at some level. Yet, there are times the pain can become so tragic that we are forced to take a time out for ourselves and ask for help! My philosophy behind the counseling relationship involves trust, unconditional acceptance, compassion, understanding and being real!

Areas of Expertise – Depression, Anxiety, Eating Disorders, Exercise Addiction, Alcohol/Drug Addiction, Co-dependency, Suicidal Thoughts/Self Harm, Life Coaching, Women’s Issues, Parenting, ADD, ADHD and Grief/Loss Support.  I enjoy working with children ages 5 and over, male/female adolescent’s, women, couples, and families.

Nathan Willis, RMHCI

Current Phd student in Counseling and Counselor Education from University of Florida

M.S. in Professional Counseling from Southeastern University

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from North Park University

            Gottman Trained (level 1)

            Brainspotting Certified

Specialties: sexual addiction, sexual identity issues, gender identity issues, communication and intimacy with couples after infidelity, trauma, attention deficit disorders, oppositional defiant disorder, depression, anxiety

Nathan loves animals and people! He is a husband to his beautiful wife, and a new dad to baby Beckett. He is also a dog Dad to a durpy Bernedoodle named Finley and a kitty named Gibbs. To unwind, Nathan loves to spend time outdoors and read.

Nathan works with kids, teenagers, adults and couples. He is especially passionate about working with kids and young adults who may be struggling with sexual and/or gender related issues. These types of problems can be scary for the entire family; especially if the family comes from a Christian background. Working alongside parents is central to Nathan’s work with kids and teenagers. He uses play therapy and sand tray therapy to build trust and to work well with his younger clients.

Nathan strives to help the client understand the issue and the impact that the issue has on the client’s life. He values the externalization of the issue during therapy. You are not the problem, the problem is the problem. You can expect Nathan to use a lot of tools and worksheets in helping you to separate yourself from the problem and to help in the training of your mind. Nathan values unconditional positive regard and genuineness as a counselor. This being said, you can expect to not feel judged while working with Nathan.

Brainspotting is used a lot in sessions with Nathan when trauma seems to be a part of the picture. As a brain based, trauma informed therapy, brainspotting helps us to process trauma on a deeper level and to experience healing. To learn more about Brainspotting, please watch the following video:https://brainspotting.com/about-bsp/what-is-brainspotting/

Nathan also leads a weekly sexual addiction group for men, L.I.F.E Recovery Guide for Men.
